Common questions

How do I set up my pantry quickly?

Tap the in the middle of the tab bar and choose Snap a shelf (photograph the fridge or cupboard), Scan a receipt, or Add by hand. iGarde reads what it sees and adds the items for you — no typing in a long list. You can edit anything before it's added.

A receipt or shelf scan didn't read correctly

iGarde reads photos on your device, then matches each line against a built-in reference of UK groceries. For best results, lay the receipt flat in good light and keep the whole thing in frame. On the review screen, confident matches are pre-ticked and anything that needs a second look is left for you to confirm — you can edit, untick, or add any line by hand before saving to your pantry.

Do I need an account?

No. iGarde works fully offline without an account — your pantry lives on your phone. Signing in (Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic-link) is only needed to back up your pantry, sync across your devices, share with your household, and use the iGarde Plus cloud features.

How do I share a pantry with my household?

Sign in, then open Settings → Household. Tap Create invite to generate a code to send to someone you live with, or Join to enter a code you've been given. From the same screen you can see who's in the household, promote a member to owner, remove a member, or leave the household. Items already on a device stay on that device when someone leaves.

What does the Insights screen show?

Open Insights from the avatar menu (top-right) or the Insights → link on the Today screen. It totals what you've used in time versus what you've had to bin — as item counts and as pounds saved vs. wasted — broken down by category. The numbers start filling in as soon as you mark items Used or Binned on the Today screen.

Expiry reminders aren't arriving

Turn on Settings → Reminders → Expiry notifications and allow notifications when prompted. iGarde schedules a local reminder the day before an item is due to expire. If you've changed a lot of items, tap Refresh scheduled reminders. Reminders are local to your device — they don't require an account.

What data does iGarde collect, and can I turn it off?

No ads, and no third-party trackers or advertising SDKs. To improve the app, iGarde collects a small amount of anonymous, first-party usage and crash diagnostics. You can switch this off any time with Settings → Share anonymous usage data. Receipt images are processed on your device; when sync is on they're stored privately and deleted automatically after 30 days. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I manage or cancel my iGarde Plus subscription?

iGarde Plus is a single annual subscription (launch offer: 1 month free, then £11.99/year) billed through your Apple ID, and every new account starts with a free welcome month of Plus. To manage or cancel, open Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions → iGarde (or in the App Store app, tap your avatar → Subscriptions) — cancelling stops the renewal and Plus stays active until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you've re-installed or switched devices, tap Restore purchases on the paywall or in Settings → iGarde Plus.

How do I export or delete my data?

Open Settings → Data. You can Export local data (and Export cloud data when signed in), and permanently remove everything with Delete account and cloud data. Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
